Riverscapes The basis of the pictures – from the Thames waterfront to the Bosphorus and Golden Horn in Istanbul or the Isle of Wight, Brightlingsea and Montrose - is often the industrial and commercial maritime development of the river banks especially where it has been subject to dereliction and neglect. The textures, shapes and colours of the rust and corrosion of vessels and structures frequently contrast with the flat plane of the river’s surface. The artist believes that there is a natural beauty that is not the usual 'chocolate box' landscaping. |
